Headache can cause a lot of problems. When the head is aching, a person loses the thread of conversation or reflection, cannot concentrate on the main thing, misses important details, and loses courage and efficiency. All this can be an obstacle to a quiet and comfortable existence. To combat this problem, most people tend to find pills for headache, inexpensive, but effective, quickly bringing relief.
Headaches can arise in modern man for various reasons. First of all, the pain in the head can be associated with overfatigue, permanent stormy stressful reactions of the body to the surrounding reality, chronic lack of sleep or an unregulated sleep and wakefulness regimen.
In addition, it is often the result of uncomfortable working conditions, such as the multitude of working premises, constant stuffiness, the absence of lunch breaks, the need to spend all working time in a sitting position (in hypodynamic position), and the need to be constantly in front of the computer screen. Also, headache signals about any disease or pathological process that takes place in the patient's body. The following can become the causes of the latter:
• Instability of blood pressure: jumps of this indicator during the day.
• Significant increase in blood pressure: probably, this is the debut of the so-called hypertensive disease.
• Changes in the work of cerebral vessels: changes in vascular tone or structural organization of the cerebral vasculature often lead to pain syndrome.
• Diseases of the cervical spine, such as osteochondrosis or spondyloarthrosis, for example: in this case, partial compression of the vertebral artery, which is important in the blood supply of the brain.
• Unevenness of the index of intracranial pressure.
• Migraine: chronic severe headache, to which, as a rule, the patient has a predisposition.
• Inflammation, various infections.
If your head hurts, you need to evaluate the cause that could cause this pain, and decide whether there is a need to consult a doctor. It may be that the patient requires a completely different, structured, long-term treatment, and not taking medication for pain at will.
It is especially important to see a doctor if the medication used to relieve pain, and later its positive effect became much less pronounced.
Usually, with in pain in the head, so-called non-steroidal (non-hormonal) anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs and antispasmodic medications are used. As a rule, all these drugs are in the publicly available price category and are presented in tablet form, which are quite convenient to use. However, one should not forget about contra-indications to admission and about possible side effects arising from the use of the aforementioned medicinal groups.
The action of non-hormonal anti-inflammatory drugs is achieved approximately in 15-20 minutes after taking. It is important not to forget that too active use of such medicines can cause a strong irritation of the gastric mucosa and contribute to the formation of ulcers. NSAIDs include the following drugs, which have tablet forms:
• Aspirin.
• Ibuprofen.
• Paracetamol (Diovan): is not an NSAID in the classical sense, since it has a slightly different mechanism of action, however, it is excellent for eliminating pain in the head.
Do not use non-steroid medications for those patients who:
• Have had an allergic reaction in the past to a drug from the NSAID group.
• Are in the period of feeding or pregnancy.
• Have peptic ulcer disease of the gastrointestinal tract.
• Have hepatic or renal pathologies.
• Under suspicion of a doctor for concealed bleeding.
• Suffer from severe hypertension or other significant heart disease.
If any such drugs has not helped to relieve the headache, you can also try to take an antispasmodic. The effect of antispasmodics is based primarily on the relaxation of smooth muscle cells in the walls of the cerebral vessels and the expansion of the latter. In this regard, the blood flow increases, the flow of oxygen to the brain increases and the pain goes away.
Abstain from taking medications for headache from the antispasmodic group is necessary for patients who:
• Suffering from kidney failure.
• Suffer from heart failure.
• In the past had an allergic reaction in response to taking medication from this group.
• Are hypotonic: have low blood pressure.
• Have glaucoma.
Pregnant women need to know that during pregnancy, the appointment of all drugs should be controlled by a doctor. More or less safe drugs with severe headaches will be Paracetamol but it is impossible to prescribe these medicines independently.
